The Commander is a Government that has a shorter barrel and slide. The shorter pistol is less likely to have the pistols muzzle jammed into the car seat when worn in a hip holster while riding in an automobile. The Commander has an aluminum frame. The Combat Commander is the same size pistol but the frame of the Combat Commander is steel.
